Does an apple a day keep the doctor away?
Recent research has shown that people who eat an apple a day are indeed healthier than those who do not. But it is not just the apple!
The research found those who had eaten an apple in the last 24 hours were 27% less likely to develop metabolic syndrome and had a 36% lower risk of high blood pressure.
How does this work? People who eat apples pay more attention to their diets and lead a healthier lifestyle. Obviously also eating fruit and vegetables rather than packaged and processed foods provide you with more vitamins and minerals and fewer calories. It is recommended that you eat two pieces of fruit and at least five serves of fresh vegetables per day.
